So this "Tim Tebow974 Archivesa baseball player" thing might actually be for real.
Nearly a month after the New York Mets signed the ex-NFL quarterback to a minor league deal (much to the Internet's amusement) proved with one swing of the bat that he's serious about playing baseball.
In his first at-bat of his first instructional league game on Wednesday, Tebow went big.

The Heisman Trophy winner smacked one out of the park against the Cardinals' instructional league squad.
And, oh yeah, it was the first pitch of the at-bat too.
Tim Tebow just homered on the 1st pitch he saw in the Instructional league. First pitch. Yes, FIRST. #GetHimtotheMajors

Given Tebow's celebrity status, his failed NFL career and the fact that he hadn't played baseball since high school, some have derided his signing by the Mets as a publicity stunt. When hundreds of fans and 70 media members showed up to Tebow's first workout last week, it was starting to look like one, too.
The Mets insist that's not the case. Apparently, so does Tebow's bat.
