One of the most beloved Indian TV shows of all time is Hannah Harper Archivesready to make a comeback -- and we finally know when.
SEE ALSO: A new wave of Indian web series is narrating women's stories with refreshing honestyThe much-anticipated reboot of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, an Indian sitcom that originally aired in 2004, will go into production later this month and return as a web series in May, a producer of the show said.
The show revolves around the lives of an uber wealthy family, where the father (Indravadan Sarabhai) makes sarcastic and witty remarks, mother (Maya) doesn’t let go any chance to mock her daughter-in-law (Monisha) for her "middle-class" thinking, and brother (Rosesh) who writes sad-but-hilarious poems. All is seen through the lens of protagonist (Sahil).
The show has gained a cult following over the years. It remains one of the few Indian TV shows that continues to elicit discussions on TV forums. Such is the praise for the show that it even fares well on IMDb, raking 9.2 stars, roughly twice of a typical Indian show.
So it came as a pleasant surprise when last year, actor and producer Jamnadas Majethia announced that he would reunite the cast and bring back the show as a web series.
"At every public event and even at private functions in the last 10 years, I was always asked when Sarabhai vs Sarabhaiwas returning," Majethia was quoted as saying in Ahmedabad Mirroron Wednesday.
"It was public demand which finally compelled us to set aside everything else and concentrate on developing a quality script which lives up to the audience’s expectations," he added.
The show’s plot will advance by seven years, Majethia said, who promised not to change the elements that made the show so popular.
Fans of the show finally allowed themselves to express their excitement on social media:
