It's not too soon to think about Stranger ThingsSeason 3,Watch A Taste of Experience Online is it? With Stranger Things 2still fresh in our minds, we think the timing is ripe. Who will live, who will die, who will become perfect platonic friends and who will finally make out?
SEE ALSO: Here's what that creepy 'Stranger Things 2' ending means for Season 3Here are nine things we want to see in Stranger ThingsSeason 3.
As the show's standout child stars and the two teens most affected by the Upside Down, it's insane that these two still haven't officially met. They probably have a lot of fun stories about the old demogorgon (what a slob, amirite?) and can help each other adjust to reality.
Hawkins is a terrible place to have a name starting and ending with the letter B. Barb finally got some remorse from her best friend and a long-overdue funeral over a yearafter her death and disappearance. Will Joyce experience PTSD on the same time-delay as Nancy Byers? Will Bob get a funeral (if there's even a body left)? Who in the group will continue his legacy and learn BASIC?
Yes yes, TV shows need conflict, but the kids at the heart of Stranger Thingsare at their best when they're together as a squad (as evidence, may we present literally any public appearance they've shared). Incidentally, a squad we could stand to never meet again is Kali's band of bombastic punk misfits. Let's explore Mike and Will's friendship, Dustin and Lucas not competing over a girl, Mike chilling tf out, and how Max and El fit in at the same time (more on that below).
Maybe you watched Stranger Things 2and didn't wonder if and when these two would make out, but we here at Mashable Entertainment sure did. They've got that competitive edge as they vie to rule Hawkins High, and they're both single despite having a way with the ladies (Billy's whole Mrs. Robinson arc with Mrs. Wheeler can also be a thing). Also, this scene:
Speaking of our least-favorite mulleted bad boy, what the heck is Billy's deal? Is he racist, homophobic, abusive, or all three? (Our money is on the last option). What happened with him and Max and their family before they moved to Hawkins? Can we just have literally anybackstory? Please?
Two seasons and 17 episodes in, we're still not quite sure what the ubiquitous shadow realm haunting our protagonists even is. It's cold and dark and populated by slugs that grow into cat-eating monsters – but where did it come from? What are the rules? Why did Barb die but Will survive? Why do some people enter by vanishing (Will) and others through slimy portals that definitely don't invoke any other imagery? Let's get a manual about this place, stat.
Season 2 didn't put much effort into making Max a three-dimensional character so much as a foible to the absent Eleven. Pitting her and El against each other is maddeningly pedestrian, not to mention unjustified (El gets jealous when she sees Max and Mike talking, but he is so in love with El that it's a moot point).
Here's a thought: Maybe Lucas gets his own episode next season so we can see more of his sassy sister. Or maybe shegets her own episode. Let's think big, Duffers.
Where Season 1 nicely subverted this predictable arc by letting Steve grow as a character and Nancy and Jonathan foster a trauma-induced friendship, Season 2 went back to the drawing board in the laziest way possible. Nancy and Steve break up arbitrarily and don't even look back; Nancy and Jonathan sleep together because...a reclusive detective told them to?
If Stranger Things 2was supposed to be bigger, let's hope Season 3 aims to be better, perhaps by incorporating some of these free ideas. (You're welcome.)
Stranger Things 2is now streaming on Netflix.
