An email sent to ticket holders had everyone thinking that Arcade Fire has some pretty strict rules for attending the album release concert for their forthcoming record Everything Now.
For starters, cell phones or recording devices will not be permitted in the intimate show—which will take place in Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn on July 27. But what really got people scratching their heads is the very specific dress code, explicitly requiring folks to dress "hip and trendy" if they are going to be in attendance, according to an email sent to ticket holders via music news site Brooklyn Vegan.
SEE ALSO: Best singles released in 2017 (so far)"Our dress code is HIP & TRENDY as if you are going to a concert or night out with friends!" the email read, as if this is an exciting!rule. A concert or night out with friends means no shorts, crop tops, tank tops, large logos, and solid red or white clothing.
PHONE-FREE VIEWING EXPERIENCE:
No cellphones, cameras or recording devices will be allowed at this show. Upon arrival, all phones and smart watches will be secured in Yondr pouches that will be unlocked at the end of the show. Guests maintain possession of their phones throughout the night, and if needed, may access their phones at designated Yondr unlocking stations in the lobby.
WHAT TO WEAR:Our dress code is HIP & TRENDY as if you are going to a concert or night out with friends! The event is standing-room-only so please plan accordingly.
PLEASE DO NOT WEARshorts, large logos, flip flops, tank tops, crop tops, baseball hats, solid white or red clothing. We reserve the right to deny entry to anyone dressed inappropriately.
While the dress code probably means the experience will be filmed, that hasn't stopped people from calling the band out for their request.

This isn't the first time the band has come under fire for wardrobe requirements. In 2013, they required fans appear in "formal attire or costume" wear, which caused a backlash.
"To everyone really upset about us asking people to dress up at our shows… please relax," a 2013 statement from the band read, clarifying the dress code. "It’s super not mandatory. It just makes for a more fun carnival when we are all in it together."
