Dictionary.com is doing its best to play the cool-kid dictionary game, adding 300 new words to its online database. While some new inclusions like "Black Lives Matter" are irrefutably important, we're not sure if we needed all of them (see: "dad bod").
The dictionary's latest addition includes a variety of millennial-approved words ranging from slang like "sext," to cultural developments like "burkini," to Trump-era required vocabulary like "alt-right."
Here are some highlights from the new additions:

Dictionary.com lexicographer Jane Solomon told CNN that compiling the new "man bun"-inclusive list is a serious job that involves a host of different research methods.
"It takes a lot of time and effort and thought," Soloman said, "So as a lexicographer we give every word the same amount of respect and attention and care."
"Is this word or that word too new or too slang? No. There's not just one correct English," Soloman explained, "As a lexicographer, I do not define how the language is used, the speakers do. And if speakers are using a certain set of words, then that is correct English."
You heard it here, folks. Sext is correct English. So is slay, man bun and 420. Words don't need letters any more, apparently.
