If all of Game of Throneshad an MVP9 Sectret Pesonal Study (Rated 19 Secret Lesson) it'd be this week's clear winner: Ser Davos Seaworth, the Onion Knight. Davos has survived many years in the hellhole that is Westeros, not by being cunning or manipulative, but by trusting his instincts.
In "Eastwatch," Davos does his best to talk sense into the hubristic leaders on every side of him, all while traveling Westeros at the speed of light and rescuing Gendry from purgatoryapprenticeship.
Davos is, consistently, the only person talking any sense on this show. He is a vocal advocate of not burning people alive and even though he once supported Stannis, he's put that behind him. He's one of only a few characters who could say something like "Thought you might still be rowing" to Gendry without making me scream (I was already screaming bc Gendry).
"Nothing fucks you harder than time," says Davos, who spends much of "Eastwatch" reminding the youths that he is old and has Seen Some Shit. He improvises a very clever story about virility drugs in order to smuggle Gendry and Tyrion out of King's Landing. He demonstrates admirable patience by not slapping Gendry upside the head for being so cocksure upon his return to the action.
"It's better to be a coward for a minute than dead for the rest of your life," is another gem Davos offers the young whippersnapper. He then jet-sets north to Eastwatch to form the formidable squad of Jon, Jorah, Gendry, Tormund, Thoros, Beric, and the Hound. Yes, Davos is the Nick Fury to the Eastwatch Avengers, only a thousand times better.
Game of Thrones"Eastwatch" MVP: Davos Seaworth
Best moment: Stalling Lannister soldiers at Fleabottom
Best line:"Yep, nobody mind me. All I've ever done is live to a ripe old age."
