If you like to follow Mashable Tech on Scream XXX Parody Pornsocial media, you might notice that things are looking a little different than they used to. That's because we're now calling our Facebook and Twitter accounts FutureShift, and we're launching a nifty new newsletter, too. Why? Read on.
It'd be hard to name an aspect of our lives today that isn't just touched by tech, but fully intertwined with it. Our jobs, our vehicles, our social lives, and everything else are utterly immersed in technology. At the same time, the drumbeat of innovation, with its epicenter in Silicon Valley, seems never-ending, with new products and services every day that purport to improve things even more, and maybe take us to the "next level," whatever that is.
The thing is, some of that is true. There arenew products and services that will improve our lives, sometimes drastically. At the same time, power users -- tech superfans -- are hacking, modding, and just plain figuring out the tech we already have, sometimes mashing things together to create something new.
Every time this happens, and it gets into the hands of users, there's a shift. Here at Mashable, we aim to highlight the best and most important of these shifts, the ones that are truly charting a path towards the future (see what I did there?). We also aim to understand the forces behind them. Not just the devices, but the individuals, the companies, and the tech trends that seem to know only one direction to move: forward.
As our friend Scott would say, let's get down to the nitty-gritty. FutureShift is a new banner for our content on Twitter and Facebook, and the name of our new newsletter where we showcase our best work (you can sign up here). Over time, we'd love to see the label grow and spread to other platforms.
This isn't a full "rebrand." We're still Mashable, still at the intersection of technology and entertainment and culture, still covering the tech news and topics that matter most to you. Now we just have a slightly closer eye on how those stories are shaping the world to come.
Welcome to FutureShift.
