Diane Lane and Switzerland movie 18+Greg Kinnear are joining the sixth and final season of House of Cards.
Netflix didn't have much more to say about the casting than that. Production resumed on the stalled sixth season on Wednesday, ending the hiatus that started in October after allegations of sexual misconduct began to swirl around former star Kevin Spacey.
SEE ALSO: Firing Kevin Spacey reportedly cost Netflix a whopping $39 millionWhile some work on Season 6 had already been completed in October, the resumption of work now is really more of a reboot. Spacey's character has been written off the show completely in light of the allegations leveled against him.
The casting announcement from Netflix offers no details on the roles Lane and Kinnear will play in this final stretch of story. The Hollywood Reporternotes that their characters are siblings, but that detail -- which isn't in the official announcement, to be clear -- is all we know at this point.
House of CardsSeason 6 picks up (spoiler alert) with star Robin Wright's Claire Underwood in the Oval Office, a result of the previous season's political machinations. Where the season will go is really anyone's guess at this point, though the Season 5 finale made it clear that Claire is in control now.
Throughout the series, Spacey's Frank Underwood frequently broke the fourth wall to address viewers directly, sharing his innermost thoughts. However, as Claire takes her rightful place in the White House in the final moments of Season 5, she looks directly into the camera and says: "My turn."
Along with Wright, Lane and Kinnear join a cast that includes Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver.
