Get ready to meet Blade, hum 390 - images of eroticism again.
In a surprise announcement, Marvel Studios confirmed that a new film based on the superhero is in the works, with Mahershala Ali in the title role. The character is a human-vampire hybrid who protects humankind by hunting vampires.
Previously, Wesley Snipes played Blade in a trilogy of movies released between 1998 and 2004, right at the dawn of the current comic-book movie boom.
Bladeisn't Ali's first foray into the world of Marvel. He also played the villain Cornell Stokes a.k.a. Cottonmouth in Netflix's Luke Cage-- which is technically also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kinda. It's complicated.
No release date, director, or other stars have been revealed for Bladeat this time. But with Marvel apparently eager to start pushing their Phase 4 slate, we can likely expect to hear more details sooner rather than later.
