Microsoft is Taste of Future Sister-in-law (2023)coming for Slack.
On Tuesday, the company announced its chat app, Teams, has rolled out to all Office 365 customers worldwide.
SEE ALSO: Google is Slackifying HangoutsLike Slack and HipChat, Teams lets coworkers talk about business (and make dumb jokes) in chat rooms and private messages. But while the former two apps might work well for smaller businesses, larger corporations with tens of thousands of users and hundreds of departments could outgrow them. That's exactly why Uber ditched Slack last year.
Teams is part of a new wave of enterprise chat apps targeting those giant companies.
Microsoft said that since the preview in November, more than 50,000 organizations have starting using Teams, including Accenture and Expedia. Microsoft has also "introduced more than 100 new features" to the app and boasts 85 million Office 365 users.
Microsoft's rollout comes soon after Slack launched an enterprise version and Google redesigned Hangouts.
Much like with enterprise cloud storage, enterprise productivity tools are becoming fiercely competitive. When Microsoft first announced Teams, Slack published a full page ad in the New York Times welcoming them "to the revolution."
When Google announced its own plans to compete in the space, Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield cheekily tweeted that he's not worried.

Looks like the chat app wars are heating up even more.
